Privacy Policy

SCN (Social Coding Network) is a social network for makers: people who build their own projects and startups. In short: you sign in with your email, what you post is shared with people signed in to SCN, messages stay between you and the other person, and there's no tracking or advertising.

What SCN keeps

  • Your email address. You sign in with a link or code we email you. We use your address only to sign you in; it isn't shown on your profile.
  • What you make. Your profile, projects, posts, replies, ratings, follows, messages, reports and blocks are stored on SCN's servers, run for us by Supabase in the EU (Ireland), so you can use SCN on any device.
  • Uploads. Photos, videos and presentation pages you add are stored with Supabase too. Anyone who has a file's address can open it.
  • Who sees what. Your profile, projects, posts and replies are visible to everyone signed in to SCN. Messages and project requests are visible only to you and the person you're talking to. Other people see ratings only as totals, and never see your likes, blocks or reports.
  • Reports. When you report something, we keep the report and a copy of what you reported so we can review it.
  • Counting, not tracking. To see how SCN is doing we count totals from SCN's own database — for example how many people joined or posted each day. There are no analytics services, trackers or ads, and we never sell your data.
  • To delete your account, everything you made and your uploads, open Settings → Delete account. It happens right away.

Cookies and storage on your device

SCN doesn't use cookies for tracking or advertising. Your browser keeps only what SCN needs to work: your sign-in session (so you stay signed in), your theme and accent colour, and drafts of posts you haven't published yet. Because all of it is strictly necessary, there's no cookie banner. Signing out removes your session; clearing your browser's data for this site removes the rest.

Sites and slides inside posts

When a post shows a live website, or a presentation from Google Slides, Canva, Figma or Gamma, that content loads directly from the service that hosts it. That service sees your device's IP address, may set its own cookies, and its own privacy policy applies. SCN doesn't see what you do inside it.

Support and hosting

  • Support messages. If you write to us from the Support page, we keep your email and message so we can reply. We never sell or share them.
  • Where it's kept. Support messages are stored, on our behalf, by the company that hosts this website (currently Netlify).
  • Server logs. Like any website, the host keeps short-lived logs, such as IP address and browser type, to run the site securely.
  • Fonts. These Privacy and Support pages load their font from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when you open them. SCN itself carries its own font.

How long we keep it

Your account and what you made are kept until you delete them or your account. Support messages are kept as long as we need them to help you.

Your choices

You can edit your profile and delete your posts, projects or whole account in SCN at any time. You can also ask to see or delete anything we keep about you by writing to us on the Support page. We'll do it within 30 days.

Children

SCN isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
